Dinefwr Electric Car Club

Ynni Sir Gâr are very excited to be working with partners at TrydaNi and Community Energy Wales to develop a project to establish an electric community car club in the Dinefwr area. The purpose of the club is to offer an affordable option for local people to travel more sustainably, where public Transport is not convenient, or active travel impossible. The aim is also to encourage households with more than one car, to consider using the car club as their second car when needed (in the process contributing to taking carbon emitting cars off our roads).

The car is for your use, so join the Dinefwr club!

Contact sioned@ynnisirgar.org from Ynni Sir Gâr to hear more and to go about becoming a member. You can also read more about the project on the TrydaNi website here.

At the moment, there are two shared cars available for hire in the east Dinefwr area. One in Llandovery (the Castle car park) and one in Llandeilo (the Crescent Road car park). Carmarthenshire Council has been extremely kind by allowing us to keep these cars in the above car parks until Spring 2024 – many thanks to them!

To give an idea of costs, have a look at our example travel costs here.

This project has been funded by the National Lottery.

Example Costings

Below are a few examples of inclusive costs (updated February 2024) for a variety of trips made using the Dinefwr Car Club that all begin and end in Llandovery Castle Car Park. The costings do not include the cost of charging (note, there are some places where you can charge for free, e.g., National Trust properties, some cafes and pubs etc – see Zap Map for charging points). All cars will be available with at least 80% charge, and members are in charge of returning cars back to community hubs with at least 80% charge. Car charging is managed independently by our members and this is not included in the price.
